Edge highlighting takes time, I think there is no way around it... Especially for the parts where you cannot properly reach with the technique where you angle your brush 45° and run it across the edge. As said by other comments, if this is too time consuming for you, try to look into quicker techniques like drybrushing! But the results won't be as nice... Anyway have fun painting!

Answer, you edge highlight you Captains and bigger minions. The normal troops get the cheerleader effect treatment. Basically, girls in a group look prettier (guess it works for guys as well). This makes models in a troop look better than they are because they are together, a single model may still look like crap! This is why it's worth spending time with all the shadows and highlights on a captain or similar but NOT on every single unit. Great work so far though :) Is this the sergeant? Then it makes sense doing some extra work on him :)

It's a pain In The ass! I'm still trying to get the hang of it my self, I've been told to use a bigger brush then you think you need to allow the paint to pool off

With patience or you can dry brush and go back to your primary color to "clean" the surfaces. And remember, edge highlights is a light effect, witch means you don't have to paint every single edge. choose where the light should come from on your model and paint accordingly

Well it takes Time, but, you don't have to highlight every single piece. The point is to trick the eye to make it look correct with the light. Hope you get what I ment, a bit difficult to subscribe
